Friday
Gladys couldn't believe her luck. Or rather, lack of luck. First, she had gotten left by Sierra and
now the guy who had seen her cuts was standing in front of her. She smiled a bit and hoped he would
let her leave without being nosy and mean.
"Hey."
Gladys was confused, he was so nonchalant. "Hi," her throat was tight with anxiety.
"I'm Brendon, you really should get some help," he said gesturing towards Gladys' arms.
Gladys crossed her arms in front of her and frowned. "I'm Gladys. And that's none of your business."
Brendon rolled his eyes. "Come on, what you're doing isn't normal."
Gladys huffed. "Well sorry. I don't know what you want from me."
Brendon grabbed her hands, holding them in his and squeezed them gently.
He looked her straight in the eyes and Gladys furrowed her brow. "Let me help you."
Gladys blinked rapidly, trying not to cry. "What? There's nothing you can do, I-"
Brendon shushed her and whispered, "I'll be there for you like no one else has."
Gladys frowned. "How can you promise that?"
Brendon gave her a small smile, "Trust me."
Gladys shivered. "I don't know-Brendon I just met you-you don't know anything about me. I-"
Brendon squeezed her hands again, "Please."
Gladys nodded, desperate for companionship, "Okay, I-I'll try."
Brendon smiled. "Good. Let's exchange numbers, then if you need me, you can call me."
Gladys jerked her chin in agreement and numbly gave him her phone number, knowing she'd regret
it later.
"Well, I'll see you around, Gladys."
Gladys couldn't help but smile, losing herself in his chocolate eyes. She couldn't believe her sudden
change of heart. Was she so desperate? They stared at each other for another minute before Gladys
blushed and whispered, "Bye."
Then she hurriedly left, going home and getting ready for school. She wondered if she'd see him
there again. Was he really serious?
Gladys was so shocked that he still wanted to be around her. She'd never told anyone about her
depression and suicidal tendencies. Yet, he wanted to help her. Help her. Gladys smiled at the
memory of his smile. She could already feel herself falling for him. She didn't know if it was safe,
but she just wanted to be happy. She didn't know how sincere he was and she knew she might get
hurt but she wanted this. She needed this. Even if it wasn't forever. Someone wanted to help her.
Gladys let this thought empower her and consume her.
"Brendon." Even though she had whispered it, it made her smile to say his name.
(Author's note: Hope you liked it! Brendon is modeled after Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco.

Nice job! I like what you did with this. Interested to see what you do with her friendship with Brendon and whether or not Sierra and Company will notice. Will the boys notice? Write more soon. Please!

ReplyDeleteO my gosh! Brendon sounds cute, but he is way too forward! Something about him gives me the creeps! Good writing! Can't wait for the next part. :)

ReplyDeleteHmmm....Not sure about this Brendon guy. What is his game? Poor Gladys! I think she should stay away from him. I know I'm not one to talk (still haven't finished my part of mine and Rienna's story), but I hope you write the next part soon! The suspense is killing me!
