Just a little while longer...(part 1)

Beverly snatched her backpack from the closet under the stair and crept towards the front door. She

had barely turned the nob when someone said,

"Bev? What-"

Beverly spun around and stared into the wide eyes of her seven-year-old sister, Gladys.

"Gladys, I...I have to go away." She whispered.

Gladys' eyes blinked away tears. "But why? Don't you love me?"

Beverly held back tears as she reached for Gladys' hands. She held her small hands softly and

marvelled at how small she was. "Gladys, don't cry. Of course, I love you, but I have to 

leave. Just for a little while." she promised.

Gladys nodded, "Just for a little while." she said to the floor.

        Gladys felt numb while Beverly gave her a quick peck on the cheek and snuck out the door.

Gladys stood there for another few minutes, almost wishing Beverly

would come back in and say, 'I'm back!', but she didn't. Gladys wiped away her tears and went

upstairs, but she couldn't sleep.

      It was Saturday night, Gladys had actually acted upon her text and went to the party. Josh and Tyler were there when she walked in and she even got to say hi before they were whisked away by, Julia, who was hosting the party.         Tyler tore off the cap of the water bottle and drank the ice cold water greedily. He had been working out for two hours he was thirsty, sweaty, and exhausted. To the left of him, Josh sat on the floor pouring water on his head.
